The Kingspan KoolDuct System is a pre-insulated, closed-cell foam phenolic, complete HVAC ductwork system that offers a revolutionary new way of completing ductwork projects in the HVAC field at the commercial, industrial and residential levels. In HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning), new pressures continue to arise. Among those is high value placed on construction speed, clean air, and energy-savings which is why KoolDuct was created. Traditionally, HVAC ductwork is fabricated from galvanized sheet metal, which is installed and then insulated afterwards. KoolDuct’s Innovative Design

Ductwork is built using high-performance panels in sections up to 13’.
It has a fiber-free, rigid core, with the panels containing closed-cell insulation sandwiched between a 25 micron aluminum surface with a 5 mm fiber scrim.
KoolDuct offers a non-toxic pre-insulated ductwork option, being odorless, non-tainting, as well as being chemically inert.
Furthermore, KoolDuct is resistant to a wide variety of chemicals and solvents, mold and other fungal growth (passes the UL 181 mold growth test), it does not support the inhabitation of rodents, it does ot wick moisture, can withstand high-humidity environments, and is resistant to burning and flame spread (UL 181 listed for Fire and Smoke Performance).
KoolDuct Provides Energy Savings
With its design, KoolDuct has one of the highest R-values and one of the lowest air leakage in the HVAC industry. KoolDuct has R-values of R-6, R-8.1, R-12, R-16.2, R-20, and R-24. The panels come at a minimum with an R6 insulated value. These R-values are provided with thin insulation that have low thermal conductivity even with thicknesses of ⅞” and 1 3/16”. In terms of its air leakage, KoolDuct can easily attain a SMACNA air-leakage Class 3 rating. With its low air leakage, there is a significant reduction in energy because of lowered heating and cooling loads, as well as energy used by the fan. Due to its incredible energy savings, KoolDuct is eligible for contributing credits toward a LEED rating.

Kingspan KoolDuct reduces installation costs because it is lightweight and is already pre-insulated. The ductwork weighs up to 72% less than traditional sheet metal. With such a significant reduction in weight, there can be fewer crew members required to install the ductwork. The low weight makes KoolDuct a perfect choice for remodeling, where the building might not have the capacity for a new service load. Furthermore, KoolDuct can be fabricated in panels up to 13’ and requires fewer hangers than traditional sheet metal, which can also significantly lower installation costs. With its low air leakage rate, KoolDuct installation means the ductwork won’t have to be sealed after it is hung, thus again reducing installation costs and time. Ultimately, choosing KoolDuct phenolic ductwork can be over 16% less expensive than traditional sheet metal.

Because KoolDuct comes pre-insulated, there is no need to have to insulate after installation is complete. This ensures that the ductwork can be installed flush to walls and floors, as well as confined enclosures, offering a lot more utilization of your space. With KoolDuct’s high R-values, the ductwork can be installed flush to the ceiling as well. KoolDuct can save up to 6-8”/150-200 mm in a single dimension since there is no need to keep room for insulation.
